DCCI has a number of opportunities open for applications with upcoming deadlines. Is there any flexibility on the closing dates?
We are very conscious that our clients and members have a number of urgent priorities. We are reviewing timelines for our current opportunities in order to allow additional time for applications to be submitted and will be announcing revised dates on our website and through our social media platforms in the coming days.
Will DCCI be proceeding with plans to have an Irish design and craft presence at events over the summer months?
As circumstances are evolving rapidly, we are carefully monitoring the situation regarding the various events in which we are due to participate. We will share any updates on plans via our website and social media platforms over the coming weeks.
What are DCCI’s plans for the current exhibition, Generation, now that the National Design & Craft Gallery is temporarily closed?
In line with the closure of all cultural institutions, the National Design & Craft Gallery is currently closed to visitors. We very much appreciate the support and understanding of the curators of Generation and the eight makers featured in the exhibition. Over the coming weeks, the Gallery is presenting interviews with the featured makers and curators, image slideshows, an audio tour, online workshops for children and adults, and essays exploring the influences and theme of the exhibition. All virtual experiences are being shared through the Gallery’s Facebook and Instagram platforms (@NDCGallery) and on Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@DCCIreland). Details can also be found on www.ndcg.ie
How can I engage with the DCCI team?
Our resources are focused on supporting Irish designers and makers as much as possible in during this unprecedented period. We are endeavouring to continue working as normal and provide a complete service to email, phone calls and social media channels. Please reach out to us with any queries or suggestions on how we can help. Contact details for all staff can be found on DCCI’s website here. All face-to-face meetings are either postponed or cancelled for the time being. This follows guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) to prevent the possible spread of infection and to protect and ensure the well-being of DCCI’s employees, students, clients, member organisations, partners and the public.
