Irish Basketmakers Association (IBA)

The Irish Basketmakers Association aims to be of interest and help to all those concerned with basketry and allied crafts. It seeks to strengthen basketmaking traditions in Ireland by organising basketmaking courses with national and international facilitators. The association also publishes three or four newsletters annually and instructional DVDs on basketmaking have also been produced.

IBA aims to improve the standard of basketmaking and increase awareness of this ancient craft as well as encouraging contact and co-operation between basketmakers. The association seeks to achieve this by promoting courses and masterclasses, giving demonstrations at shows and putting work into exhibitions. Members have varied interests and offer a wide range of expertise. An Annual General Meeting is held in May in a different part of Ireland each year.
