Applications are now open for Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s (DCCI) Future Makers Awards & Supports programme for 2021. With a total fund of €25,000 this year and 26 prizes available, the programme is one of Europe’s largest prize-funded awards for emerging makers. The closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday, 27th July 2021. Entry is free and all applications must be submitted online at futuremakers.ie.
DCCI’s Future Makers programme rewards excellence in both making and the creative process. Divided into emerging practitioner and student/recent graduate categories, it covers a broad range of disciplines, including fashion/textile design, ceramics, furniture design, jewellery design, glass artistry and mixed media construction.

Entries will be assessed by a judging panel comprising both national and international judges.
The RDS Craft Awards 2021 will be open to winners of DCCI Future Makers Awards & Supports 2021. Five bursaries of €10,000 each will be awarded for the development of business and craft skills to those pursuing a professional career in the sector. The money can be spent on further education and training, research, development of new work, mentoring, purchase of equipment, studio improvements, website and residencies.
To be eligible for the 2022 RDS Craft Awards, emerging craft makers must have won a Future Makers Award or Support in 2021. See rds.ie for more information.

Sustainable Design: €1,000
Students/Recent Graduate Supports:
Material supports: €500 x 5
Travel & Training supports: €500 x 4
Professional Development: €500 x 3
Emerging Makers Awards:
Sustainable Design: €2,000
Emerging Maker Supports:
Studio Supports: €1,000 x 4
Residencies/Training Supports: €1,000 x 3
Exhibition Supports: €1,000 x 3

The winners and recipients of the 2021 Future Makers Awards & Supports programme will be announced at a presentation ceremony.
