Kilkenny Design is a dynamic and progressive Irish family-owned omnichannel retailer and hospitality business. We have an exciting new role for an innovative Design Assistant to join our buying team.
The Design Assistant is an excellent opportunity for an energetic individual to join a focused team in a fast paced and rewarding environment. At Kilkenny Design we are passionate about championing Irish design & craft, and we work with some of Irelands most well recognised designers and makers
We are looking for a Design Assistant who is dynamic, passionate and design led, who loves working at a fast pace on a multi-product brand and has the kind of eye for style and detail that will influence and enhance what we aim to do with our own brand collections.
You will be responsible for supporting the designer in the design and development of the seasonal collections. As a Design Assistant you will be expected to communicate ideas from concept to product, ranging from research and design to technical packs and presenting. You will also need to work closely with the Buying Team to ensure all design information is communicated clearly.

To contribute towards research, trend, fabrics, and colour for the Kilkenny Design Lifestyle Ranges in both home & clothing.
Determine commercial trends and create artwork for our Homewares range.
Manage the development of products from concept design to launch, liaising with buyers, ensuring deadlines are met.
To liaise with both Irish and international suppliers.
Create technical packs and liaise with international suppliers to ensure efficient sampling.
To assist in the sourcing and development of fabrics and trimmings.
To assist with the updating of range plans using Adobe packages.
To be Style led in your designs, while being trend aware.
To work with packaging experts, to bring the product to mark.
Character and personal qualities
Creative flair, originality and eye for excellent design is essential.
Excellent computer skills full knowledge of the Adobe creative suite such as Photoshop & Illustrator.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Ability to work on numerous seasons at once and across different categories.
Commercial awareness and up to date knowledge of retail and consumer trends.
An in-depth knowledge of repeat print and pattern design is essential.
Experience of working on multi product ranges, including knit, jersey & outerwear.
Excellent attention to detail and thorough execution.
Strong ability to work in a fast paced, cross functional team environment.
Successful candidates should be confident and be able to forecast and give presentations to all levels of management.
Modelling a positive attitude to their work.
Acknowledging, respecting, and building rapport with other team members.
