Workshops at Ballymaloe May Fair

Posted 07.03.22

We are accepting applications from craftspeople from around Ireland to conduct hands-on workshops at Ballymaloe May Fair which will be held on the grounds of Ballymaloe House in East Cork.

Dates and times of Ballymaloe May Fair:

  • Friday 20 May from 5pm to 10pm
  • Saturday 21 May from 10am to 10pm
  • Sunday 22 May from 10am to 5pm

Our newest festival is an ode to great food, gardening, green-living, health, fashion, and summer fun. Ireland’s finest gardeners, food experts, craft-makers and artists will come together to showcase their products, skills, and share their expertise.

We expect to attract 3000-5000 people over the weekend. We have engaged a public relations/marketing agency to create a major media campaign that will include national radio advertising; coverage in both traditional media [newspapers, magazines, etc.] and digital outlets; and an extensive social media campaign.

Stallholders will sell their wares in Ballymaloe Grainstore, The Big Shed, and the food marquee. See Ballymaloe Craft Fair for photos of a similar event and the attached event layout diagram.

The ethos of Ballymaloe May Fair is to:

  • Provide an interesting and diverse experience for the public in a safe and friendly environment.
  • Give garden centres and garden suppliers a platform to sell and market their companies.
  • Give food producers a platform to promote and sell their products
  • Give small up-and-coming fashion designers a platform to show their designs
  • Promote craft made and designed by individuals for the house and home
  • Promote products made, grown and designed in Ireland
  • Promote sustainability ensuring no single use plastic is used in products or packaging

Workshops should be 1 to 2 hours in length. We hope that everyone attending workshops will come away with something they have made, or with the knowledge and materials to make something on their own.  You will need to provide materials for workshop participants. The ticket price, number of people you can accommodate, and workshop time will be mutually agreed. We will sell tickets through Eventbrite.

We offer two alternative payment structures:

  1. A free stall for the weekend at which you can sell your products. Value is €180.
  2. A split on tickets to your workshop to be mutually agreed.

The Ballymaloe May Fair is sure to be a fun and exciting family event. If you are interested in being part of it, please email me at jamie@ballymaloe.com.
