Application for Homo Faber Fellowship 2025/26 is now open!

This edition is taking place from September 2025 to March 2026 in partnership with local members of the Foundation’s network.

Homo Faber Fellowship 2025-2026 will benefit 25 duos of established artisans and fellows based in Cyprus, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom whose craft has a strong connection to the local area and heritage.

Homo Faber Fellowship programme:

Homo Faber Fellowship is a yearly 7-month sponsored professional integration programme designed for duos of master artisans and craft graduates. Participants will develop business and marketing knowledge, as well as design and hands-on practical skills through transmission from one generation to the next.

The Homo Faber Fellowship is presented by Design & Crafts Council Ireland in partnership with the Michelangelo Foundation, powered by the Young Craft Booster and co-funded by European Union.

Three Irish duos have been selected to participate in the second edition of the Homo Faber Fellowship, representing three disciplines: lace making, stone carving, and blacksmithing.

Meet new Irish duos

The Homo Faber Fellowship aims not only to help an emerging artisan take the first steps towards a career in craft and ensure the future of a master artisan’s workshop, but also to have a lasting impact on the futures of different crafts.

The Michelangelo Foundation announces the selection of 24 duos for the second edition of Homo Faber Fellowship.

  • The second edition begins in September with a month-long creative and entrepreneurial masterclass in Venice, coinciding with Homo Faber 2024: The Journey of Life
  • The 48 participants represent 23 different nationalities and 18 diverse crafts
  • The workshops of the participating artisans are located in 9 European countries
