6th March 2025 – Today, Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) officially launched the Design Ireland pop-up at Arnott’s Department Store in Dublin. This exciting new collaboration showcases the finest of Irish design and craftsmanship, offering an exclusive opportunity for local and international shoppers to explore and purchase from a curated collection of 35 exceptional Irish designers and makers.
The Design Ireland pop-up is now open at Arnotts, the iconic flagship store on Henry Street in the heart of Dublin City, until July 2025. The collection at the Design Ireland pop-up highlights a diverse range of high-quality, contemporary Irish design, and features everything from jewellery and ceramics to homeware, furniture, and accessories. The curated selection includes a range of makers such as Diem Pottery (Co Meath); art prints by Stephaine Sloan (Co. Wicklow); Oxmantown Skincare (Co. Dublin), and Hanna Hats of Donegal (Co. Donegal). Each piece in the Design Ireland pop-up reflects Ireland’s rich cultural heritage and the ingenuity of Irish designers, combining traditional techniques with innovative modern aesthetics.
The Design Ireland pop-up is a destination for anyone seeking distinctive and sustainably made products, with each piece telling its own story. Many of the designers involved in the pop-up are celebrated for their commitment to ethical production and environmental sustainability, making this initiative not only a celebration of Irish talent, but also a step towards a more sustainable future in fashion and design.
In addition to the beautifully crafted products on offer, the pop-up will host a series of events over the summer including demonstrations and talks by makers, giving customers the chance to meet the designers and learn more about their creative processes.
Mary Blanchfield, Interim CEO of Design & Crafts Council Ireland said: ““We’re delighted to collaborate with Arnotts on the launch of the Design Ireland pop-up, an initiative which demonstrates the consumer appreciation for beautifully designed and crafted products by Irish makers. This partnership allows us to bring the very best of Irish design and craft to a wider audience, celebrating the unique blend of tradition, innovation and provenance that defines Irish craftsmanship and sets it apart from alternative offerings. At DCCI, we’re committed to promoting sustainability, creativity, and excellence, and this collaboration provides a fantastic platform to create commercial pathways and showcase the exceptional work of Irish designers and craftspeople to local and international visitors.”
Adding to this, Edel Woods, Head of Home & Lifestyle, Food & Toys, Brown Thomas Arnotts said: “At Arnotts we’re dedicated to supporting our community and championing Irish talent, and are delighted to present the Design Ireland pop-up this spring / summer. Our collaboration with Design & Crafts Council Ireland allows us to celebrate the exceptional creativity of Irish makers, while offering our customers a unique opportunity to explore high-quality, sustainable design. Irish design and craft carry the story of the makers, the craftsmanship behind them, and the traditions they represent. This emotional connection is becoming increasingly important in modern consumer behaviour, and we’re proud to provide a platform that allows customers to engage with authentic homegrown activity”
The Design Ireland pop-up at Arnotts is now open on the second floor until early July 2025. Visitors are invited to explore the wide range of Irish-designed products and experience the innovation and artistry that have made Ireland a global hub for design.
