Brendan Corcoran Designer Maker

Born and raised in Cork City I studied furniture making at Scoil Stiofan Naofa- achieving a City and Guilds Higher Diploma in Furniture Design and Construction. Following this I emigrated to Toronto, Canada where I worked in several high-end custom woodworking studios. It was here my eyes were opened to different influences and styles in furniture, maturing as a maker as my skills set grew. It was great to be exposed to international trends and work with diverse makers; this experience fused with my existing skill set and design experience. Now returned home, I design and make custom pieces from my workshop in Ballinhassig, Co. Cork. I also work with the ‘Bench-space’ group in Cork City and see this as a progressive location as it exposes me to talented creatives in a wide range of craft and design disciplines. Wood has always fascinated me, its variety of species - each with their own peculiarities and grain patterns offer an endless inspiration.
