Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) and Aer Rianta International (ARI) today announced the launch of a second Design Ireland® store at The Loop Duty Free, Dublin Airport.
On December 6th, Design Ireland® opened its new store in Terminal 1 retailing products that are all handmade in Ireland. Products from a total of 28 Irish designers of jewellery, glassware, prints, textiles, and accessories will be stocked in the store, and plans are in the works to expand this collection over time.
Both Design Ireland® stores are operated by The Loop Duty Free, with the store name brand under licence by Design & Crafts Council Ireland. DCCI’s Design Ireland® showcases the best of Irish design and craft to audiences worldwide, connecting them with Ireland’s makers, their studios, and their inspiration. The programme currently includes 309 brands selected by an independent jury for their high standards of design and manufacturing.

There is a further emphasis in store on the ‘Made Local, Made to Last’ campaign run by DCCI, highlighting the quality, originality and sustainability of Irish designed and craft-made products.
Following the success of the store in Terminal 2, opened in 2019, it was decided to collaborate again and bring this special offering of Irish design to Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport. As a result of this exciting partnership, the Irish craft and design community has two dedicated retail spaces at The Loop Duty Free, Dublin Airport, as well as the opportunity to introduce Irish design to an international audience.
ARI is working closely with these Irish brands to curate the collection with some of the brands designing exclusive collections that will only be available at T1 and T2, so you won’t find them anywhere else! For special gifts for your loved ones or for you to treat yourself, both stores will be stocked with handcrafted items across a range of prices, that are not only beautiful but also sustainably made. From wall hangings made from recycled aluminium to prints on eco paper, you’ll find products of high quality, that are all locally produced, and will act as a personable memento of Ireland as you embark on your travels.

Design & Crafts Council Ireland developed the ‘Made Local’ initiative during the COVID pandemic to support the Irish design and craft industry – makers and retailers of Irish made products. 2022 sees the campaign ‘Made Local, Made to Last’ highlight the quality, originality and sustainability of Irish designed and craft-made products and encourages mindful purchasing, especially in the run up to Christmas.
