Passion for Design and Making

In partnership with the Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT) Arts in Junior Cycle,DCCI produced a series of videos showcasing ‘Passion for Design and Making’.

Ruth Duignan is a fashion designer, research and educator. Ruth has a BA in Fashion Design from Limerick Institute of Technology and an MA in Business Management from University of Limerick. Ruth’s primary area of research revolves around nationality and cultural artefact. Ruth practice and academic work focuses on the integration of technology into traditional design practice and its application to contemporary art & design production and consumption.

Alan is a furniture designer and installation designer. Alan graduated with a Masters in Architecture from University College Dublin in September 2015. Alan currently works from his studio in County Laois, imagining and creating one of a kind and speculative pieces for both public and private clients. Completed projects include; one of a kind furniture, public space design, and a collection of sculptural wood-turned vessels.

Kim Sharkey is a muiti-media artist, craftsperson and educator. Kim is a graduate of Nottingham Trent University where she studied BA in Decorative Arts. Kim also completed a BA in Animation at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

Cormac Ó Conaire is a Creative Director & Partner at Design Partners, a product design and innovation agency.
