My name is Mary and I am the face behind Gléasta.
I discovered my love of sewing at a very young age from watching my grandmother and mother making their own clothes. I started with dolls clothes and then progressed to making my own. When I finished school I attended The Grafton Academy of Dress Design in Dublin. I completed my diploma and I worked for many years as a children’s wear designer.
Sewing has brought so much joy to my life. I wanted to share my passion and joy for this fabulous hobby. I have been teaching night classes now over 30 years. At Gléasta you will find a unique handmade gift to suit any occasion. All our products are carefully handmade by me in my studio in County Dublin.
Unique handmade gifts with the emphasis on design and quality, using very carefully selected fabrics and trims. Sewing has brought so much joy to my life it is a joy to create and make unique gifts for you. companionship in a discreet and easy to carry way.
Every day is different in the studio. I have to cover all aspects of the business. It could be a day spent sewing or working on a new design or a day catching up on ordering and searching for supplies. Running a business even a small one involves a lot of variety.
I love creating a new design.
