Milis is an artisan candle business run by Fiona Young in Dunmore East, Co Waterford. Fiona’s background is cancer nursing & she still works part time with the Irish cancer society. Fiona’s many years of cancer nursing inspired her to create products that are phthalate free, meaning non toxic.
Milis uses 100% soy wax & the oils to create the scent are vegan and cruelty free. The scents are unique & strongly scented to evoke a powerful memory. Each scent is inspired by baking, family life & the beautiful Irish landscape. The containers & packaging are either reusable, recyclable or compostable.
What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?
I get the two big wax melters turned on early so the wax is ready to go. I get my orders ready to be shipped with my courier, respond to emails and social messages.
Then grab coffee number 2! Then the best part I get a podcast on and I pour candles, I usually have a batch a day of 96 candles. There are lots of other little jobs too of course, ordering stock, finishing candles, wrapping candles and dreaming up new scents!
