Closing Date 22.07.2024
Posted 03.06.2024

Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is delighted to announce the second year of the David Shaw-Smith Legacy Award. This award was developed in response to a callout at DCCI’s AGM in 2022 by master craftsman and previous DCCI bursary winner Joe Hogan.

In response to this call out, DCCI developed an award to honour the legacy of the late David Shaw-Smith, recognising that Irish craft is driven by heritage and creativity.

David Shaw-Smith, an Irish filmmaker, who with his wife Sally, produced and directed the acclaimed documentary series Hands, made over 138 television documentaries during his career.

The award is to support and recognise the achievements of our masterclass craftspeople in the creative development of their craft.
