Design & Crafts Council Ireland presents, as part of Irish Design Week, an exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of the opening of Kilkenny Design Workshops (KDW) and celebrate the future of Irish design.

This exhibition explores the rich heritage of design in Ireland, from KDW and its alumni, to today and to the future of tomorrow. It looks at the environment from which successful design models were born and considers - are there drivers –”ties that tie and links that link” – that are consistent across the ages that we can learn from and that have transformed Ireland into a world leader in design.

Central to this story are the contributions of Mary V Mullin, a champion of design and former KDW employee whose international career has helped elevate Irish design on the global stage, and Sean McNulty, founder of Dolmen Design and also a former KDW designer. With huge thanks to both for their generous contributions of exhibition pieces and narrative, their careers offer compelling insights into the transformative power of design.

Christmas Closure Details:

Please note the gallery will be closing on the evening of 23rd December at 5.30pm and will reopen on the morning of Tuesday 6th January at 10am.
