Valerie Taylor Handwoven in Ireland

Valerie Taylor Handwoven in Ireland

Valerie Taylor is a contemporary Irish hand weaver who graduated from Coventry University in 2000 with a BA Hons in Craft Design. Valerie moved home to Donegal in 2006 with her husband and children. After taking time out to raise her family, Valerie seized the opportunity to get back into her passion of hand weaving by joining the Fashion with Promotion degree course in Letterkenny’s LYIT. She graduated in 2018 and then joined the Fashion & Textile Design Centre in Derry/Londonderry to get the support required to bring her designs to market. “I’m inspired by the wild beauty of Donegal. From the rugged and un-spoilt beaches, to the colours of the mountains and fields. I am mostly stirred by the beautiful red sky evenings and tend to use a lot of these colours in my palette.” Valerie’s products are made with only Irish yarns and fabrics. In her hand-woven pieces, the yarns used are from Donegal, her current tote bags are comprised of Mc Nutt’s herringbone and tweeds – and the linings
