Applications open for Irish Design & Craft artists to attend the Fêtes Consulaires in Lyon, France on 15-16 June.

The Consulate General of Ireland in Lyon is looking for Irish artists and craftspeople interested in displaying their arts at the Consulate’s tent on place Bellecour and discussing their works with French visitors.

What is the ‘Fêtes Consulaires’?



The event has been organised for over twenty years by the City of Lyon in partnership with Consulates based in Lyon to celebrate Lyon’s international profile, through the diversity and dynamism of its Consulates and foreign communities. The event takes place annually on place Bellecour, the third largest square in France and the largest pedestrian square in Europe.


What’s happening for 2024:


This year, in line with the hosting of the 47th edition of the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon in September 2024, the theme of the Fêtes Consulaires is ‘arts, crafts and skills’.

Who is attending:


A number of local Irish craftspeople are already confirmed for the event, from watchmakers, glass designers and knitters of Aran sweaters.


Planned schedule of events

Artists would showcase their works at the Consulate’s tent on June 15 (11.00 – 19:00) and June 16 (12:00 – 18.00).

*Please note that the sale of goods is not authorised. There will also be opportunities to showcase works at another venue in Lyon, in partnership with the City of Lyon, between June 10 and June 14. This can take the form of a conference, a technical discussion, an initiation or a workshop.
