Following the success of her first workshop in Ireland last year at the Design & Crafts Council Ireland Academy, Jewellery & Goldsmithing, acclaimed enameller Jane Moore returns to Sessions House in July 2026.
Renowned for her distinctive style and decades-long influence on British jewellery and craft, Jane brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this hands-on workshop. This vitreous enamelling course will teach the preparation of enamels for wet laying of transparent and opaque enamels.
This course is open to both DCCI members and members of the public.

Learning Outcomes
- This 5 day course in Enamelling for Small Batch Production Short Course aims to introduce learners to vitreous enamelling while understanding the ability to reproduce what sometime seems like a labour intensive technique. Learners will become familiar with tools and equipment and the various techniques involved in the firing of vitreous enamels.
- Enamel preparation techniques and importance of this stage of the process
- The various techniques of putting enamel powder onto precious metal
- The uses of transparent and opaque enamels and how they can be used on own or in combination
- How textures and surface finishes can add vibrancy to transparent enamels
- Grinding and finishing techniques

- This course is suitable for beginner and intermediate levels. Learners will gain experience in the techniques used in enamels for small batch production on silver and understand the importance of surface finishes and textures to enrich the qualities of transparent enamels that is required in Jane Moore’s Work.

12.30pm Introduction to the different enamelling techniques that you could apply to batch production. This will be an overview of other techniques and will be illustrated with photos of other enamellers work and assessment of actual pieces of jewellery.

Jane Moore has been a strong presence in British jewellery and craft for more decades than she cares to admit. With its whimsical charm and attention to detail, her jewellery is an authentic expression of a warm, outgoing personality and instantly recognisable to fans of contemporary jewellery. She is prolific in developing her unique aesthetic to create new designs that are sensitive, considered and beautifully made.
International exposure has included regular appearances at The New York Gift Fair, EUNIQUE Karlsruhe Germany and SIERAAD Amsterdam. Meanwhile her unique jewellery designs have featured prominently in dozens of reputable, contemporary craft galleries across the UK and internationally. In 2006, Jane received the prestigious Kayman Award from the National Association of Jewellers.
