In partnership with TU Dublin (Technological University Dublin), Merenda with ALPI will collaborate on a student design project for Irish Design Week 2025, exploring the theme “The ties that tie, and the links that link.”
Students will design and prototype objects and installations using ALPI wood veneers — a material that itself embodies connection, bridging tradition and innovation, local and global.
The exhibition will be presented by the students, who will share their projects and ideas, alongside a guest panel of leading professionals from the Irish design scene. The panel will reflect on the students’ work and open a broader discussion on how materials, technology, and collaboration shape creativity today.

Merenda’s own journey, as an Irish family business constantly evolving through innovation and international partnerships, will form part of this dialogue — an example of how design practice can adapt while remaining rooted in craft and community.
This event creates a platform where: education, industry, and design culture intersect — inspiring audiences while giving students national visibility for their work.
