Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is delighted to announce its collaboration with Aberston, this will strengthen our shared mission to champion Irish craft, support independent makers, and empower retailers with meaningful, design led product selections.

This collaboration marks an exciting step in connecting the world of contemporary craft with modern retail. Together, Aberston and DCCI aim to enhance visibility for Irish makers, simplify entry into retail markets, and help independent retailers source authentic, story-rich products that resonate with conscious consumers.

As the national agency for craft and design in Ireland, DCCI plays a pivotal role in nurturing creativity, safeguarding heritage craft, and supporting makers across the country.

Aberston is an Irish B2B ecommerce wholesale platform connecting independent retailers with independent creatives. Aberston’s curated wholesale platform complements this mission by giving Irish and international independent retailers seamless access to exceptional craft, along with flexible terms and a simplified buying experience. The platform is thoughtfully curated to make it easier for independent retailers to discover and stock high quality, small batch products. Its mission aligns with DCCI’s in championing makers and designers who prioritise craftsmanship, creativity and authenticity.

Through this collaboration, DCCI members will benefit from:
• Increased exposure to independent retailers across Ireland, the UK, Europe and beyond
• Access to a simple, maker friendly platform with a focus on quality and curation
• An exclusive reduced commission rate
• Visibility through featured collections, storytelling campaigns and promotional opportunities throughout the year

“This collaboration is a natural fit,” says Djamel Benziane, Founder of Aberston. “DCCI has long been at the forefront of elevating Irish craft, and at Aberston, we are committed to making it easier for independent retailers to discover, source, and share those stories with their customers. Together, we want to celebrate the magic of craft and help it thrive in modern retail spaces.”

As part of the collaboration, Aberston will showcase DCCI supported makers on the platform regularly throughout the year, highlighting their stories and craftsmanship through retail focused content, curated collections and shared promotional opportunities.

The collaboration will also include cobranded campaigns, trade visibility initiatives and educational resources designed to support both independent makers and independent retailers.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Aberston, a platform that aligns with our values of creativity, quality and craft preservation. This collaboration supports Irish makers in reaching new retail audiences and helps promote the importance of craft in the Irish cultural and economic landscape,” says Emma Dowling, Head of Commercial at DCCI.

With independent retail increasingly focused on meaningful and sustainable product offerings, this collaboration brings valuable opportunity to both the creators and the curators within the craft economy.
