Our world is fast-paced, full of noise, distraction, and unrest. I feel drawn to find moments of stillness and calm to escape this constant noise and find a place that is restful and quiet. My current practice focuses on creating simple ceramic forms, adopting industrial processes of mould making and slip casting. The finished porcelain forms are mostly unglazed yet finely polished to achieve a sleek satin finish and reveal elements of translucency. Not only do I seek stillness in my work, I place great importance in the placement of each object to highlight the subtle tonalities in surface quality and the distribution of light and shadow that speak of quiet moments.
