Mary Moorkens Textile Artist

My name is Mary Moorkens, a textile artist living in Dublin. I love the rhythm of making marks with thread and the texture of textiles - the provenance of antique lace or the untold story in a vintage glove. I want to add my story through stitch. Textiles reinvented are a constant source of fun and satisfaction for me. Natural dyeing excites me and it features strongly as backgrounds in my art. My embroidery is sometimes traditional - sometimes experimental. The stitches are often tiny. My work has been in exhibitions throughout Ireland, and internationally in Europe and USA. Stitching is my happy place. I enjoy making each and every piece.
