Newgrange Jewellery

Newgrange Jewellery

Dorothy Fletcher Bentley grew up in Ireland, very near the Newgrange Megalithic tomb. Having visited many times throughout her childhood, the tri-spiral pattern has always captivated her. A Graphic Designer by profession, she learned the art of wax carving as a hobby initially and now specialises in sculpting Newgrange-inspired pieces such as the jewellery you see here. All of Dorothy’s work is created using the traditional ‘Lost Wax’ technique of carving a piece of wax using a spirit lamp and wax files. This results in the tactile raised relief pattern you can see and feel in her truly hand-carved work—just like the exquisite patterns made by ancient Irish craftsmen. She outsources her wax pieces for sterling silver casting and personally finishes every piece in her home studio.
