Irish Designer and Artist Maia Mellier creates vibrant, unique, eco conscious pieces from her studio in Co. Wicklow.She has a multidisciplinary approach through painting, print and creative coding. Her work as a designer comes through a lens of creativity, problem-solving and aesthetics. She explores the possibilities of a circular economy by repurposing textiles into new, beautiful and functional items. All of her work seeks to uplift others through meaning, colour and form.
Coffee’s important as is getting some fresh air during the day! Otherwise I sew, create new designs, paint, generally attempt to stay organised and focused most of the time!
My advice is to stay true to your vision, be authentic, and get very clear about why you do what you do - this will keep you on your path no matter what else is going on around you.

For creative people the act of creating is a form of nourishment. For me my work is an active meditation, it pulls me into the moment and keeps me there until I’m finished. I’m very grateful to be a creative person.

What’s your favourite time of the day?
Very early in the morning, its so peaceful, a great time for journaling and figuring things out.
I go out and walk in nature, so grateful that I have the sea on my doorstep.
