
Michelle is a glass artist based in Rhode Co Offaly. She makes large scale glass installations designed for architectural interiors or exteriors. Michelle has a range of smaller art works available from her gallery at Glasshammer studios.
She does workshops and projects for teenagers and facilitate mental heath and art therapy workshops for adults and children.
What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?
I do my farming work first with the horses and then I have breakfast, I then open the big doors of the studio and working on the commission at hand.

What do you like most about your work?
The peace and quite, the opportunity with every commission.
What do you like least about your work?
The fact that glass does not travel well, so it elliminates me from doing show abroad and sending orders out by courier.
What’s your favourite craft item in your home?
Small silver eggs that I make on black glass and silver leaf.
What other maker in your discipline do you most look up to?
Lino Tagliapietra.
How do you start your day?
Yoga.
What’s the first thing you do when you leave the studio?
Smell the flowers at my door.
