Press Releases

May 2025: Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) announces the return of the Irish Craft Village to one of the nation’s favourite summer events, Bord Bia Bloom. Taking place from Thursday, 29th May to Monday, 2nd June in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, this year DCCI welcomes 52 makers, all part of the Made Local campaign from across Ireland, to showcase their work. DCCI designers, makers and craftspeople are preparing to sell their work to over 100,000 visitors over the five days. Last year, 33% of visitors to Bord Bia’s Bloom festival went specifically to visit the DCCI Craft Village.

Situated in the heart of Bloom, DCCI’s Irish Craft Village will host 52 Irish craft retail stands from textiles and printing to jewellery, woodturning and home décor. Visitors can expect unique gifting opportunities encouraging those to shop Made Local this summer. It will also feature a range of demonstrations from DCCI’s Guilds, Associations, Networks and Societies (GANS) over the five days. These demonstrations will be hosted by various associations including the Irish Artist Blacksmith Association and the Irish Woodturners Guild and will showcase Irish traditional techniques offering insight into the craftsmanship and cultural heritage behind these skills.

Made Local highlights the originality, quality, sustainability, and value of Irish designed and craft-made products and champions design across Ireland. Over 1,400 makers and products can be found on the directory at MadeLocal.ie.

This year’s DCCI Irish Craft Village exhibitors have been chosen from a range of counties and disciplines, each bringing unique, and quality led designs and products to the weekend. The makers were selected out of 123 applications and 38% of participants are new to the DCCI Irish Craft Village.

Mary Blanchfield, Interim CEO, of Design & Crafts Council Ireland said: “We’re proud to return to Bord Bia Bloom with our expanded DCCI Irish Craft Village, celebrating the incredible talent and creativity of makers from across Ireland. This event continues to be a powerful platform for our designers and craftspeople, offering real opportunities for commercial success and deeper engagement with the public. With 52 makers participating this year, we’re excited to showcase the strength of Ireland’s design craft sector through our Made Local campaign. Thanks to the ongoing support from Bord Bia, we look forward to building on last year’s success and continuing to grow visibility and appreciation for Irish craft.”

Brid Fanning Art commented: “I have been a constant visitor to Bloom for the last few years and one of my goals has been to have a stand at it one day. So this is a dream come true for my business. I look forward to talking to visitors and discussing my inspiration and processes and sharing the event with the amazing talent in DCCI.”

Laura Douglas, Head of Bord Bia Bloom and Brand Partnership said, “Bloom is a celebration of creativity, community, and the best of Irish talent in a vibrant, welcoming space. From show gardens and artisan food to inspiring talks and entertainment for all ages, Bloom offers something for everyone. We’re especially delighted to see the return and expansion of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland’s Irish Craft Village, where visitors can meet makers, discover unique pieces, and experience Irish craft firsthand. It continues to be one of the festival’s most-loved features.”

For those that love to shop there is plenty to choose from in the DCCI Irish Craft Village with brands such as Jerpoint Glass Studio; Flower Child and Loinnir Jewellery all showcasing and selling their pieces. Each of the 52 brands featured in this area create stunning, locally made products that will be sure to tempt and inspire. A full list of exhibitors can be seen below.
