I look to nature, for inspiration, which surrounds my studio, based at the foothills of the Ballyhoura Mountains in North Cork. I have always been interested in organic forms and the texture of natural objects, especially the vibrant colours in nature and I like to replicate this in my work. The style of Batik lends itself to a freer method of application, but I like clean edges so my work is more controlled. As I am also a Bee Keeper, I get to use the wax from my honey bees in the Batik process.
