Étaín Ireland

I am a trauma therapist and I started off making candles, diffusers and wax melts as a way of helping me to recalibrate and look after myself in what can be a stressful job. As a therapist I recognise the role smell plays in both traumatic memory and importantly in promoting healing. I am originally from the Glens of Antrim and now live in Newbridge, Co Derry, on the shores of Lough Neagh and in the shadows of the Sperrin Mountains. All of these areas are steeped in Irish culture. It felt natural to marry my love of candles making with the love of Irish culture and so Étaín Ireland was born. My products are all handmade by me in my home in Newbridge. I believe the products are unique in that they are presented as Gaelige with each scent having its own unique poem, all written by me. The products have really captured the imagination of Irish language enthusiasts and all those with an interest in the language and Irish culture in general. It has been humbling to have recently
