Katharina Treml is a potter based in County Waterford, Ireland. She makes wheel thrown tableware and one-off pieces in stoneware and porcelain, often experimenting with local materials and different firing methods. Her current body of work explores porcelain vessels as silent guardians of the places we inhabit. Inspiration is often drawn from the Irish coastline, its colours and weathered textures loosely translated into tactile surfaces and gradients of colour. Silky microcrystalline glazes are layered in different ways to create movement, subtle patterns and depth of surface.
