With an emphasis on colour Janice creates intricate surface textures combining her passion for embroidery with her love of embellishment. She creates her jewellery and framed embroideries using a combination of machine embroidery, hand stitching and beading. A sewing machine is used to build up interwoven layers of stitch forming the designs which are worked onto either vanishing muslin or dissolvable fabric. Fine beads are then hand stitched to the jewellery creating a rich and decorative finish. Recently she has been giving new life to old Middle Eastern bag faces and salt-bags by re-purposing sections of them into her commissioned embroideries.
