Headford Lace Project presents Large Scale Bobbin Lace Masterclass with Australian Visual Artist, Mary Elizabeth Barron. Headford Lace Project was established in 2016 to research, revive and reimagine Headford’s bobbin lacemaking heritage which dates back to the mid 1700s.

Mary Elizabeth Barron is an Australian Visual Artist working primarily with bobbin lace techniques. Headford Lace Project became aware of her work online and were thrilled to receive her masterful artwork Logan River Lace from Brisbane for our international exhibition of lace, The Space Between during Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture.

Since then the team at Headford Lace Project have become loyal followers of her work. They love Mary’s use of recycled plastic bags and her designs based on the waterways and flora in her locality.

The team will give Mary a tour around Headford, Lough Corrib, Ross Errilly and of course take her on the Headford Lace Trail during her stay. For more information on Mary’s work see:

In this special masterclass, Mary will share her large-scale bobbin lacemaking techniques, using recycled plastics. This is a rare opportunity to work with Mary during her visit to Ireland so please book early to avoid disappointment.
