Paper People is a collaboration between writer and publisher Sarah Byrne (The Well Review) and traditional bookbinder, Éilís Murphy (Folded Leaf).

This workshop is divided into two parts. The first part will involve crafting a book from scratch with Éilís; the second part is a creative writing workshop with Sarah.

Throughout the workshop, we will look at how the folkloric went from being oral to recorded on paper, what connects a writer to a storyteller and storytelling.

We will take in our environment at Hometree and consider the material of paper and its origins that are often taken for granted. We will also reflect on what it means for our stories to inhabit space and time. Participants will be invited to share their stories at the end of the workshop and will also be able to take their book home.

What's Happening On Day One?

Inclusivity by its very nature challenges norms and boundaries. It also asks us to broaden our minds and adapt to the unusual. Considering the crises we are facing in the next few decades, that is a skill set we are going to need more than ever.
