Welcome to the Table is a participatory visual project exploring belonging, third-culture identity and cultural exchange through food, table settings and shared meal rituals. Emerging designers co-create table environments inspired by different cultures, each table expressing heritage, traditions, rituals and contemporary habits.
Rooted in the idea that identity is shaped by lived experience, creativity, migration and memory, the project uses designed tableware, surfaces, vessels and place settings to invite audiences to experience and share different cultures.
Welcome to the Table is a collaborative project between Belfast Design Week and Belfast School of Art.

+ Welcome to the table brings together the richness of heritage and diverse cultures and demonstrating new ways of interpreting and showcasing this that are relevant to younger audiences.
+ It engages creative young minds with contemporary discourse around multiculturalism – including local culture – and raising awareness of different ways of living and being.
+ The event sits alongside the island-wide craft and design celebration, tying in to the importance of understanding material and retaining and reviving this knowledge.
