Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI), in partnership with Atlantic Technological University (ATU), has officially inaugurated the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Jewellery and Goldsmithing at the newly established DCCI Academy of Jewellery & Goldsmithing in Sessions House, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. This pioneering three-year, full-time programme marks a significant milestone in Irish education, welcoming 16 students from diverse backgrounds united by their passion for design and craft.
This week marked a pivotal moment for these aspiring Irish jewellers as they embarked on a journey of skill refinement and discovery. The curriculum features a rich array of modules including Advanced Applied Goldsmithing, Design Communication, and Gemstone Setting, complemented by invaluable real-life work placements.
The new DCCI Academy Jewellery & Goldsmithing will host a range of talented individuals bringing a vibrant contribution to Thomastown. DCCI looks forward to welcoming the community in Thomastown to a thriving hub of success and creativity for years to come and building on its success with the upcoming opening if the ceramics school next year.
