August Craft Month is an all-island celebration of craft and design that takes place every August. It is led by DCCI, in partnership with Craft NI.

This August, communities across the island of Ireland came together to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship and the joy of making as August Craft Month 2026 returned bigger than ever.

With over 650 events taking place across every county, the island was buzzing with creativity. From open studios, exhibitions and maker talks to hands-on workshops, demonstrations, craft markets and family activities, there were countless opportunities to make, see, learn about and buy craft.

Thank you to every maker, organiser, partner, venue and visitor who helped make August Craft Month 2026 such a memorable celebration.

A month of making, learning and discovery

From seasoned makers to exciting new talent, thousands of craftspeople opened their doors, shared their skills and invited audiences to experience the stories and processes behind their work.

More than 2,400 members of the public learned a new skill through hands-on workshops during the month, while exhibitions, demonstrations, markets, trails, talks and open studios offered even more ways to discover Ireland’s extraordinary craft community.

And the celebration doesn’t have to end in August.

Some memorable moments from August Craft Month 2026

This year’s programme brought craft to new audiences both locally and nationally.

Highlights included August Craft Month makers and their work being showcased on RTÉ’s Nationwide, bringing the stories of Ireland’s craft community into homes across the country.

Featured makers also received national recognition through coverage in Irish Country Magazine, helping shine an even brighter spotlight on the people, skills and stories behind contemporary craft.

Working together across the island

August Craft Month is made possible through collaboration across Ireland’s craft and creative communities.

We were delighted to work alongside Craft NI and with partners and organisations including Local Enterprise Offices, National Heritage Week and Cork Craft Month, helping extend the reach of the programme and create opportunities for makers and audiences in communities across the island.

Our thanks also go to the Guilds, Associations, Networks and Societies, local organisers, venues and everyone who helped bring this year’s programme to life.
