Vasilis Marmatakis is a celebrated Greek graphic designer based in Athens. He is best known for his work with director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Minimal, provocative and highly conceptual, his work expertly mirror and distinctly amplify Lanthimos’s oeuvre dating from Dogtooth (2009) right up to Bugonia (2025). These also includes multiple Oscar winners The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023).

This unique partnership is one of intuition and trust. It has an Irish connection through Element Pictures who are on-going producers with Lanthimos.

Marmatakis visits Irish Design Week to present his work, discuss his process and shed insight into this most significant link he has forged in the design world. He will discuss proposals, rejected ideas, title treatment AV and typography; followed by a conversation with Michael McDermott (neighbrhd).
