Press Releases

Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is very proud to confirm that additional investment of €900,000 has been allocated for phase one of the redevelopment of the Bank of Ireland building in Thomastown into DCCI Academy Ceramics School. Following a thorough review of the site, consultation is ongoing with Kilkenny County Council by the architect and further stakeholder engagement will happen in the coming weeks with regard to a planning application.

We look forward to local stakeholder consultations during this period and to a speedy progression of this project, that together with the DCCI Academy Jewellery School at Sessions House, will form a significant and vibrant contribution to Thomastown.

We are also pleased to confirm that following consultation, the relevant DCCI staff have been advised that their place of work will be relocated to the DCCI Academy Jewellery School at Sessions House, Thomastown, commencing 4th June 2024.

The entire DCCI team looks forward to working with the community in Thomastown to make the DCCI Academy a thriving hub of success and creativity for years to come. We apologise that the process has taken longer than expected.

Any local stakeholders who wish to have a meeting with DCCI on the matter can contact [email protected].
