CRé, Potaireacht Chléire

Catherine is an artist, ceramicist and teacher who lives and works in West Cork. She began working with clay through the traditional route of the production potter and has been working in the medium for forty plus years. She produces work from her studio on Cape Clear Island. Catherine has a BA in Visual Art and H. Dip in Education. “My ceramic work is inspired by the surrounding land and sea scape and influenced by the techniques of the production potter”. The materials used to make the thrown and hand-built ceramics are high fired stoneware or porcelain clay decorated with colourful, textured glazes and over glaze decoration, fired in an electric kiln.
