A Gentle Festival of Welcome
Common Threads is a Sheffield based weaving collaboration between The Bare Project and a collective of Somali women called the Higsad Alool Weavers who share their knowledge and skills from their nomadic heritage.
Together they have developed a practice of weaving a “living room” in public spaces, usually urban, over the course of a few days. This structure then becomes a convivial space for eating, talking, performing. More information here. Visual artist Jennie Moran is currently undertaking a hospitality themed residency at NCAD and has invited Common Threads to Dublin through the support of L’Internationale and Creative Futures Academy.
