Irish Design week is thrilled to bring the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland, Erica Dunne and Holger Strøm together for this event discussing light touch low cost options that designers can avail of to protect their intellectual property.
Since the late sixties, Holger Strøm has worked primarily in the field of corrugated card packaging design.
In 1973 Holger, whilst working in the iconic KDW, designed the now world famous IQlight system, a self assembly lighting concept made up of interlocking quadrilaterals, making it possible to create lamps of various shapes and sizes only by linking together the identical elements
At one point Holger had patents across 25 countries, and he brings this experience to bear on this panel discussion.
Erica Devine is an artist and craft maker. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin and of Durham University, she worked as a conservator at the National Museum of Ireland, the National Trust in the UK and as an advisor to award-winning historic houses and museums.
Her great love of nature and a creative drive inherited from a long artistic lineage led her to pursue the art of botanical casting. Innovation is a huge part of Erica’s practice and she has developed a wide range of products including botanical jewellery, window panels, furniture inserts, lighting, chocolate and candles. She is currently writing a book on the techniques she has developed and she comes to this panel to explore what meaningful protections she can employ for her work.
