An evening of design talks in collaboration with the Design & Crafts Council Ireland & The Space Between.

For Irish Design Week, Jordan Ralph Design brings together four friends and creatives whose work Jordan has long admired for an evening of talks and conversation. Joining Jordan are Thibaut Allgayer (FR), Copenhagen-based interior and furniture designer and former Creative Director of Studio David Thulstrup; Aoife Mulvenna (IE), founder of multidisciplinary design studio FADA; James Clarges (IE), London-based creative and founder of JIMS, whose career spans SKIMS, Dyson and Calvin Klein; and Fredrik Paulsen (SE), Stockholm-based furniture designer and co-founder of Joy Objects.

Working across interiors, furniture, fashion, retail, objects and spatial design, each speaker brings a distinct perspective and approach to contemporary creative practice.

Through a series of individual talks, they will share their work, influences, processes and the experiences that have shaped their careers, followed by an open Q&A with the audience.

Reflecting the Theme: Fáilte Future Europe

Tying in with the theme, and the EU diplomacy, JRD has invited Irish and EU designers to gather and speak for this event.

Meet the Panel:

James Clarges, London-based creative and founder of JIMS
Frederik Paulsen, Stockholm-based furniture designer and co-founder of Joy Objects
Aoife Mulvenna, Founder of multidisciplinary design studio FADA
Thibaut Allgayer, Copenhagen-based interior and furniture designer
James Clarges

James Clarges is a London-based Irish creative, originally from Crumlin, Dublin. He credits much of his creative instinct to growing up in a working-class community, where resourcefulness and seeing potential in what was around him shaped how he approaches design today.

Most recently Director of Store Development & Special Projects at SKIMS, James helped shape and expand the creative language of the brand’s physical experience internationally. His work explored how the SKIMS world could translate beyond product into a complete sensory environment, from spatial design and materiality to scent, visual merchandising and the smaller details that define how a space feels. This approach was carried across stores, pop-ups, shop-in-shops and special projects globally.

Previously, he spent four years leading global retail and events activation at Dyson, with his wider career including work for Calvin Klein under the creative direction of Raf Simons, Tommy Hilfiger, adidas, Y-3, Moncler, HUGO BOSS, The Richmond Group and Jaded London.

James is now establishing his own creative practice, JIMS, working with brands including SKIMS, RHODE and Jaded London across retail, experiential design and creative production.

His approach is rooted in understanding what makes a brand feel like itself, then translating that into a world people can physically experience.

Frederik Paulsen

Fredrik Paulsen (b. 1980) is a Stockholm-based furniture designer and co-founder of Joy Objects. He studied at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm and the Royal College of Art in London.

Working across furniture, interiors and spatial projects, his practice combines a strong material sensibility with an experimental approach to colour, form and context.

His work has been produced in collaboration with Vaarnii, Blå Station and others, and includes the Nobel Prize Museum Pavilion in Stockholm. Paulsen is represented by Etage Projects in Copenhagen and was awarded the Bruno Mathsson Prize in 2024.

Aoife Mulvenna

FADA is a multifaceted design studio; an open, empathetic environment where creative conversation can thrive and flourish, where concepts are nurtured, contorted and tested before taking on their final form. We are considered in our approach, producing work that instils an appreciation for craft and precedent.

Derived from the Irish language, FADA is an acronym for ‘faoi aon díon amháin’ translating as, ‘under one roof.’ In this space, under one roof, we thrive on the cross-pollination of ideas, people and place, resulting in the creation of meaningful timeless spaces, furniture, objects and forms.

Founder and Architectural Designer, Aoife Mulvenna, is a collaborative creative with a passion for emotional place making and an eye for detail. She is driven by a genuine desire to understand her clients on a deeper level, crafting beautiful spaces that feel authentic and brand specific.

Thibaut Allgayer

Thibaut Allgayer is a Copenhagen-based French interior and furniture designer. Formerly the Creative Director and Head of Design at Studio David Thulstrup (2012–2021), Thibaut led high-profile spatial and product projects from concept to final execution for clients including Noma, Reform, and e15.

Prior to this, he worked with industrial design studio Kilo Design on projects for Aiaiai.

In 2021, he established his independent practice, specializing in interior architecture, custom furniture design, and strategic brand collaborations with clients such as HAY, Carl Hansen & Søn, Frama, Rotate, Axel Arigato, and J.Lindeberg.

From 3D visualization and technical drafting to physical prototyping and spatial execution, his entire body of work remains fundamentally material-driven.
