Authenticity in an Artificial World
As technology accelerates and synthetic experiences become increasingly common, what remains uniquely human?
The Design of Craft Conference brings together international creative leaders, luxury brands, designers, makers, cultural institutions and innovators to explore the value of authenticity in the 21st century.
Through craft, design and storytelling, the conference examines how human skill, cultural heritage and creativity continue to shape meaningful products, brands, places and experiences.
How do we preserve authenticity in an increasingly artificial world?
What is the Design of Craft Conference?
Presented as part of Irish Design Week 2026, the Design of Craft Conference explores the growing importance of authenticity in culture, business and innovation.
Bringing together voices from luxury, fashion, craft, branding and the creative industries, the conference examines why craftsmanship, cultural knowledge and human creativity continue to matter in an increasingly automated world.
The programme asks a fundamental question: If artificial intelligence can replicate almost everything, what becomes more valuable because it is made by people? Through a series of keynote talks and panel discussions, participants will explore how authenticity creates economic value, cultural relevance and long-term resilience.

How does fashion carry identity, culture and craftsmanship into the future?
Fashion is often viewed through a commercial lens, but it is also a powerful expression of cultural identity and material innovation. This session examines the relationship between design excellence, craftsmanship and global influence.
